Sad

dying
The
growing season is over, the fields have turned brown and the sun sets earlier now. I am cold at night when I go to bed and cold when I wake up. Brrrrrr!

The Farmers Market has ended, sad. I will miss the people and the beautiful produce.

Ok, enough of that...

Now we have 5 cleared acres to deal with before Spring. Because of the rain here I haven't been over to look at it since the pulp wood guy finished. I can imagine stumps everywhere and underbrush to clear. There is a lot to do.

This time of year does mean these!!!!pumpkins I love pumpkins. We went to a pumpkin patch last week and they had hundreds of them in all colors.

Including little white ones that Caroline loved.she loves pumpkins.

So I guess we will survive. As soon as it is dry enough I will take pictures of the land we had cleared.

Happy Fall Ya'll

Fall Is Almost Here

The days of summer are waning and we are at the end of our harvest for this year. The tomato plants are turning brown as are the cucumber plants. The beans are hanging on for the moment as are the carrots and onions. But, soon all will succumb to fall weather.

Our land is now cleared for next year and we must get busy with soil prep and deciding what we will grow. Blueberries, apples, all sorts of vegetables!

William will need to decide on irrigation for the crops. There is water on the property, but he will have to determine the best method of getting it to the crops.

There is much to do and spring will be here before we know it!

is it fall yet?

The Farmers Market

The Farmers Market continues to prove successful for us. We are selling out each week and I am baking more. It is encouraging to have people come back and tell you how much they enjoyed what they purchased.

There are funny moments also. Hannah had a gentleman look into a basket that the market was doing a raffle for and ask "what kind of peppers are those?" Hannah replied, "sir, those are okra!" Then the farmer set up next to her had some small cucumbers for sale. I lady asked "what kind of pickles are those?" The guy said, "those are cucumbers, but people make pickles out of those". She exclaimed to her husband, "did you know that they can make pickles out of cucumbers!" Oh my... There are plenty educational moments!!

In spite of some difficult weather the farmers have had plenty of gorgeous produce. I love to the the trucks full of corn, cabbage, and other vegetables. It is a blessing to see all this bounty available.

Here are some pictures Hannah has taken at the market:

YUM!!!

We are eating well here! We have been picking okra, beans, tomatoes, and cucumbers. I have been getting fresh corn from the farmers market to add to the bounty.

There is nothing better than a dinner of vegetables that you have grown.

Tell me what you have been harvesting and enjoying the summer!
